SixPack Library -- Release Announcement
Version 1.0 of the SixPack rapid development library was released today. The SixPack rapid development library is a collection of classes for rapid development on the .NET/Mono platform.
Oeiras, Portugal, November 10, 2008 -- Today the 1.0 version of the SixPack rapid development library has been released as Open Source. SixPack is a collection of classes intended to improve the development experience under the .NET/Mono platform.
The SixPack library is a collection of classes designed around solid architectural principles:
- Don't Make Me Think -- Striving to be invisible and do not surprise developers.
- KISS -- Striving to keep everything simple and stupid.
- YAGNI -- Striving to give developers only what they are going to need.
The library is composed of 73 new classes and it is composed of around 15,000 fully commented and tested lines of code. Even though it is a newcomer in the Open Source arena, SixPack has been used extensively on dozens of commercial websites and applications in the past.
The developers behind the library are all professional developers, with years of experience. The library was initially build as an in-house project for Fullsix, Europe's leading digital marketing agency. After around two years of development and continued field usage, the project was deemed stable enough to be released as Open Source, for everybody to use and modify.
This release marks an important step for the library, as the team is eager to further expand its scope and usefulness.
For additional information on the SixPack library please visit the Google Code project page or contact Marco Cecconi. The library is free to download, use and modify under the Limited GPL.
